****Rosie ROCKS!***Rose has had three offspring for us (one male and two females). All have had extremely fine and bright fleece. Her two daughters had the finest fiber on our farm for 08 &09. Rose has matured into a beautiful dam. This girl has tons of presence. She has a wonderful head. Her fleece is still outstanding at five years old! Rose won the very first Spin Off class we ever entered. After awarding Rose first place in her age/color group, the spinner at the 2005 Mid America Alpaca Show also awarded Rose the Spinner’s Choice prize over 80 other entries. She won 5th place in halter in a very competitive class in the white yearling female division at the 2006 TxOLAN show. Her 2005 histogram numbers show what the judges felt: AFD 19.1, SD 3.5, CV 18.3%, 1%>30 and mean curvature of 44%. Great fleece complimented by a sweet disposition and a perfect bite back up her Hemingway and Felix genetics. Her sire was one of Mike Safley’s favorite Hemingway sons and Studmaster Sire: MSA Hemingway’s Tequila. JULY 07 NEWSFLASH: Rosie had a beautiful baby girl without any help from us! Baby is 18.4lbs and doing beautifully! Rosie is a wonderful mom with gallons of milk!April: Rose is at it again! She took a 1st place in the Fiber Sample Competition (White division), and a 2nd place in the Spin Off Competition (lost 1st by 1/2point) at the 2007 Alpacas in The Ozarks Show in Arkansas. Rosie rocks!FEB 07: ROSE takes a 2nd (out of a class of 11) in Yearling White Fleece at TxOLAN!! But that's not all: Judge Ruth Elvestad also gave her the best brightness AND best hand awards for all the huacaya fleeces entered! WOW!!! Her comment at the oral reasoning: "If you want to know what 'Hand' is all about, feel this fleece." And about brightness: "We are really stingy with awarding points for brightness with huacaya fleeces, but I gave this fleece a 9.5 out of 10." She also scored a 20 (15/5) for fineness and handle. Great job Rosie! Can't wait to see this years fleece! |
